Refurbishment of a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse in Spitalfields, East London.
We were asked to look into the refurbishment of this original 18th century house with the refurbishment of the flat spread on the three upper floors. The aim was to propose a remodelling of key areas such as the kitchen and the bathrooms to optimise the use of the space in these functional areas. The overall approach injects a certain restrained modernity through tamed finishes and minimal modern fixtures, while keeping alive the strong original timber work so characteristic of the late Georgian period.
The result is not without evoking the riveting past of this iconic neighbourhood made famous by Jack The Ripper.
